One of the Best Sandwiches I've had
by natewoodbury
My wife and I had lunch there today and were very impressed. My wife ordered the fish tacos and said they were great. I ordered this chicken, strawberry club sandwich at the recommendation of my waiter, and was surprised at how great it was. I'm already craving another. Seriously, it was that good. I had fries with mine, and I don't see how it would be possible to make fries any better. One other note, I really liked the sliced strawberry's they put in out waters.
I'm not typically up in Ogden, but I will certainly go there again when in the area. Too bad they aren't located closer to my home in Lehi.
- Pros: Their Menu was awesome - lot's of great food
- Cons: none
My Favorite Place
by Mibrunson
This is my Favorite place in Ogden to go out for a nice dinner. I eat at other places for a quick bite, but when I want something really good I come here. They creative chefs have designed a fanastic menu that has something for everyone. There staff is great and I enjoy coming here again and again. I found their website so that I can talk my co-workers into going there for Lunch. bistro258.blogspot.
- Pros: Atmosphere and great menu
- Cons: Nothing comes to mind
Great Service
by mybutterfly21
We had read a few bad reviews and a few more good reviews about this place and decided to take a chance. We are glad we did. The food was great, my new york steak had a little too much fat (I hate fat on my steak), but the steak was big enough that I could cut the fat off and still walk out stuffed. They have an excellent spinach artichoke dip. The martinis were great. There garlic mashed potatoes were great. They had our table ready for us when we walked in the door with bread and butter waiting, strawberry slices in our water, and fresh flowers. The service was AWESOME!!!! We give this restaurant five stars and will definitely go there again.
- Pros: strawberry slices in the water, fresh flowers at your table, service, fast seating and food
- Cons: the staff needs a place away from the guests to socialize
Best place when in town

I live in Southern California and travel to Utah often for business meetings. I stopped at this restaurant initially due to the location (by the Marriott). On the first visit (a few years ago), the chocolate souflee was recommended. What an amazing treat it was after a great dinner. Since then, I have brought my team as well as customers there for dinners. The restaurant is cozy (I too have had the private room which is perfect for small parties), and it is a great choice for mixing dinner with good discussions.
I always find the service friendly with the owner often stopping by to ask about our dinner. The wine list is much better than others in the area, and everyone always enjoys the meals. The appetizers are a great start, salads are fresh, and I always save room for my dessert! I highly recommend the gooey warm center of that souflee (just perfect for one person)!
- Pros: Ambience is quiet and cozy, clean, well rounded full meals and drinks
One of my favorites

I can not say enough good things about this place. The food was AMAZING. The service was impecable! I hosted a very small baby shower(only 4 of us). They let me drop off the centerpiece the day before and kept it. When we arrived, we got our own small room, the centerpiece was on the table and they gave us flowers on the table. We got water with strawberries(festive and delicious). They tended to our every needs and the owner came in to say hello and congratulate the mom to be. It was the most wonderful experience. The price is not too high and the food is worth every penny. I can not wait to eat there again.
- Pros: loved it all
- Cons: none
Service so bad, we walked out
by artemislt
My husband and I made a 7pm reservation at Bistro 258 last night for one of our infrequent and highly anticipated date nights. We showed up at the restaurant at 5 'til seven and were shown to a table and given a basket of bland, chalky bread. We sat there for TEN MINUTES while waitstaff bustled around the more than half empty restaurant. We watched the manager greet the table next to us and chat with two women. We were completely ignored until five after seven, when I told my husband that we're leaving. I cannot imagine why a nice restaurant would completely ignore a table during those first crucial minutes it has to impress. We will not be going back there and we would never recommend it to anyone we like.
- Pros: good location
- Cons: terrible service
Excellent food, cheery atmosphere

I am saddened to see so many negative reviews for this establishment! However, I can understand the frustration that comes with poor service. I have frequented this restaurant for the better part of a year and have been through both owners. The food is great with choices for everyone (portobella ravioli... YUM!) and although the service can be trying at times it has improved considerably! In addition there are servers that have been there for a very long time and it is easy to request a server that you enjoy!
- Pros: Food, wine list
- Cons: service
My new favorite restaurant!
by cubshack
I was pleasantly surprised upon first entering Bistro 258. Frankly I didn't believe a restaurant like this could exist in Ogden. My wife and I were seated and serviced promptly. I had the Princess Penne and my wife the Seared Ahi. Both entrees were amazing, as was the soup du jour (Creamy Potato w/ Leek) and the seasonal dessert (Pumpkin cheesecake w/ gingerbread crust!)
I will return to Bistro 258 as frequently as possible. It is a charming restaurant with excellent food and friendly service. It also offers ample parking, which alleviates the stress that can accompany eating out.
- Pros: Ambience, Food, Service, Parking, Close to Megaplex
A diamond in the rough of Ogden

I was recently introduced to this restaurant by a business associate about a month ago. Since then I have returned more than six times, with various family, friends and collegues at work, each of whom has been equally satisfied. The atmospere is fantastic, as is the food. Each time I have been to visit, I have tried something new and have been thrilled to find that each entree is not only unique, but tasty.
My favorite thus far has been the Chicken Christine: Grilled Chicken with artichoke hearts, mushrooms and a cream sauce served with criss-cut fries. I was also impressed with a NY Steak on the lunch menu. It was a perfect cut, cooked to my liking, both tender and juicy.
My wife and I live in Centerville, and while we have been tempted to eat out in Salt Lake, we find ourselves returning to Ogden to eat at Bistro 258. It has the kind of ambiance that one seeks in a restaurant without the chore of having to deal with the hustle of Salt Lake. My wife is allergic to gluten, and often times eating out is a hastle for her. Our server was very helpful and accommodating to her needs and the cook even threw together a gluten free halibut fillet with roasted veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. She was thrilled at their ability to make eating out an enjoyable experience for her. We have even brought our young children who not only enjoyed the atmosphere and historic 25th street, but were satisfied with the kids menu that is offered.
I will continue to frequent Bistro 258 and recommend it to others.
Below average food and service at an above average price

I was told about the Bistro by a friend and thought I would see what all the hype was about. I was unfortunately disappointed by the experience. Our server was lacking in knowledge about the specials, the wine list, and the ingredients of the menu items. I ordered a fillet mignon rare, ($23), which is my absolute favorite cut of meat only to be served an overcooked and gamy steak that had the texture of a sirloin and the consistency of a london broil. My wife had the salmon special, and although the server told us that it was wild caught, we both agree that it was farmed and not very tasty. The owner was working on the floor that night and he approached us after the meal to ask how everything was and what he could do to make it better. After explaining to him the aforementioned critique of his cuisine, he assured us that he would get to the bottom of the issues and blamed the his restaurant's faults on the fact that he had just bought the business and was in the process of reshaping it to his liking. I understand that the transition is probably difficult, but after hearing the praise that my friend gave the restaurant, I can't understand how it went downhill so fast. Perhaps our food was prepared by a new chef in training and our server didn't yet know the menu, but I can't excuse such poor service or an overcooked fillet. When all was said and done, my wife and I had spent over sixty dollars on a meal that neither of us enjoyed, and although the owner promised to make it right, he never offered to comp us a meal or even our appetizer. I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Rooster's right across the street has an excellent wait staff and better food at a better price.
- Pros: good parking, nice atmosphere
- Cons: overpriced, bad service, limited wine list, overbearing and chatty owner
