From St. George to Bountiful, Neilsen's frozen custard is an evening tradition for many Utah families and couples, a steady stream of them leaving the stand happily licking away on a sugar cone or spooning at the cherries and chocolate topping on a sundae. It's all dessert at the original Holladay Nielsen's, but burgers, fries and chicken are available at the Bountiful location, hoagies in St. George, and hoagies and fries in Layton.



The Food


The "concrete" and "nut concrete" shakes are far more palatable than the name suggests--thick, smooth custard with natural flavors, as in the vanilla and bumbleberry or caramel cashew, the

most popular flavor. Fewer calories and cholesterol, too, due to the use of a little egg yolk in lieu of milk fats. Spanish nuts add

flair to the sundaes, while takeout pints and quarts allow you to bring the party home.…
