Real breakfast. Great scone things.
Plenty of food, it's hot, it's tasty, and it's fresh.
Go for a morning ride in the cold on your motorcycle then pop in and stuff a scone thing (like an elephant ear- not a british scone- think big fried dough w/ honey butter) and then some bacon and eggs and hashbrowns in ya.
Same price as Denny's, Shari's, all those lousy places serving up plastic food, but it's the real deal. There's a reason there's a bunch of regulars and a line, but they'll get you seated and fed.
Sill's is what it is.. Sill's is a dumpy location just off the freeway on-ramp, sticky table-cloths, loud kitchen sounds, spotty silverware, and rushed waitresses. And I wouldn't go anywhere else for breakfast! The closest a lazy man like myself can get to remembering what home-cooked breakfast is like. Everything about this place is exactly what they want it to be, good food at a good price... the rest is just a work in progress and that is a-ok with me, and apparently the rest of their almost daily customers.
Step back in time and have breakfast at a diner stuck in the '50s..
The Scene
Sitting right off the Layton exit from I-15, this place is usually packed in the morning with Davis County old-timers who have been ordering the same breakfast forever, along with high school kids looking for a meal on the cheap. Head straight in and find yourself a table.
The Food
This is down-home country cooking--expect lots of butter and/or gravy on top of just about everything. In the morning, go with the Denver omelet or Boss' Breakfast (one egg with cheese and bacon, hash browns, SOS and a scone). Deep-fried scones are a specialty, as are the massive cinnamon rolls. Lunch and dinner feature the same menu. If you've got a huge appetite, go for the chicken-fried steak (served with soup, salad, mashed potatoes and a roll).
Simply the BEST!.
Sill's cafe is simply the best Breasfast home style restaurant I have ever eaten at. I highly recommend the Biscuits and Gravy. Be sure to bring your appetite because they know how to serve a large portions of food. as opposed to these corporate restaurants that only serve "kiddie sized" portions.
P.S., Be sure to tip who waitress, they deserve it!
Great greasy spoon. Best scones and breakfast foods in Northern Utah. The honey buttered scones are worth the journey, even if you have to come all the way from Logan or Provo. Great greasy spoon atmosphere.
