PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE – I’ve been a customer of Dave’s for about a year and a half now and they haven’t ripped me off or deceived me in any of the repairs they’ve done to my 98 Sebring and I always get a quote without a problem. The rip off is some of these national and local chains (I won’t mention names) where I’ve gotten some outrageous repair quotes. I go into one to buy front tires and get an alignment and they tell me I need a brake job that’s going to cost $900 bucks. After getting the last quote of $130.00 to get a radiator hose put on ($30 hose and half hour labor), I quit checking with these places and decided to stick with Dave’s. I don’t know what this guy’s talking about, because I’ve never had any attitude problems with any one from Dave’s and I don’t expect any in the future.
Daves complete auto service – my car would not start, they told me the chip in my key went bad and it needed a new key, this is a regular key, nothing special about it. I agreed and $440 later the new key works fine. But guess what, i tested the old key for the fun of it and it worked too. Every time i checked it. Why did i get a new key!?!? Im guessing it was a quick and easy fix like resetting the computer and they decided to throw in a key replacement to make some money. Dishonest mechanics, stay away from them!
GREAT SERVICE – I recently went to Dave’s Complete Auto Service, and I didn’t have one problem with the service I got. The owner Dave was honest, and knew what he was talking about. The price was pretty fair, especially since I had a lot done to my BMW. I left Dave’s very pleased!
STAY AWAY – This is the worst experience with mechanics in my entire life. These guys are shysters. Dave the owner is one of the rudest men I have ever met. We took the car back to Dave's reluctantly only because the check engine light came on two weeks after they did major repairs. They wanted another $700 in hose replacements. I did not want the work to be done, but they had already ordered the parts without MY consent. They got my Sons consent, but I'm the one who brought the car in and signed as the authorizing person. The parts of course were not refundable so I was forced to pay $450 for the parts or they simply would not return my car. Once I checked online to see if they had a bad reputation, I got my car out of there before they could do any more damage. When I went to pick up the car and the parts minus labor, Dave made me go to the bank to get cash because he was afraid I would cancel the transaction like that is possible. I think Dave has had a lot of experience with unsatisfied customers and for very good reason. If you do go there, you will notice the severe lack of customers at any time of the day. Think twice.

Worst Customer Service Experience Ever - Owner is Rude. – I dropped my vehicle (1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic) at Dave's on Saturday (9/7/08) and put my keys in the drop box. On Monday Dave called me letting me know that I would need a new radiator to proceed. I agreed and told him I would call back later in the day with a deposit.
I came down to the shop in person to talk with Dave. After waiting in the lobby for an upwards of 45 minutes, Dave approached me and we went to look at the car. I decided that I would let him know the next morning whether or not to proceed, and exited to my car.
After getting in the car that I had drove to the shop (different car than the one being repaired) Dave came out screaming at me, and asked me what I was doing. He reached into my car (also a Jeep, but much older and of different color) and pulled out the keys. He ran into his store and told me he was going to call the cops.
It took at least 5 minutes to try to explain that this Jeep was not the one he was repairing. After he finally had one of his associates check on the Jeep in the back, he released the keys to me.
Never have I met such an individual with such a temper. After asking him whether or not my problem may be a head gasket, and what a head gasket would cost, he refused to give an estimate. Any mechanic has at least given me the courtesy of looking up the pricing for a head gasket replacement -- but Dave refused to do so simply because he couldn't give an estimate off the top of his head (which wasn't what I was asking for.)
His rude manner in which he treated me was upsetting, and the fact that his paranoia compelled him to reach into my personal vehicle (which is not under any mechanics lean for Dave's) is not only rude, but an act of assault. Entering a vehicle without the consent of the owner is nothing a BUSINESS OWNER of a repair shop should be doing.
I'm extremely dissatisfied, and want Dave to know that should he continue to be so rude to his customers - he wont be in business any longer.
Way Over Priced, Dave is Rude and Arrogant – This is the the most over-rated, highest priced, rip-off shop that I have had the misfortune to do business with. Dave is an arrogant little man, who will lie to your face, record your phone calls, and over repair your car to get his greedy little hands on more of your money. Dave will not tell you his labor rate, nor will the invoice show how many hours you are being billed for... there should be a law about that. DON"T TAKE YOUR CAR TO DAVE'S COMPLETE AUTO SERVICE IN CENTERVILLE. NOT FOR ANY REASON... unless you like getting screwed over. KARMA ; )
Avoid this location at all cost – I have recently had the misfortune of experiencing so called service at this company. Unfortunately, my vehicle broke down near this location, and as a "convenience", I took it here. This was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Their website states "Dave?s Auto pledges to exceed your expectations of quality customer service and satisfaction." This is not the case. In fact, it's quite the contrary. Not only is customer service not practiced by "Dave", he will hang up on you if things aren't going his way. He also will record your phone conversations without your consent, and with notifying you. I only found this out once he was throwing a tantrum and advised me that he would send me the recording. The website also states "We at Dave?s Auto understand your time is precious, we will do everything we can to guarantee your automobile is safe and repaired quickly so you can get back on the road." which is completely inaccurate. I was never offered a guarantee, they charged me for five hours of "work" that was not done, and my vehicle broke down the next day! I was charged almost $600.00 by this company and then was forced to take my vehicle elsewhere to actually get it repaired. I have filed against them, as apparently many others have as well. It was a miserable experience, and he is a miserable person to have to work with. Pay the extra money for a tow truck to bypass this horrible establishment.
